DWDM and OTN System architect

Duties and Responsibilities

As part of a 60+ staff international R&D team, you will have the following responsibilities:

• You work in close relation with Product Line Management to understand products and features to be developed and translate them in detailed system specifications.
• You can be requested together with PLM to interact with customers for prioritizing features to be developed.
• You define Transport Products System Architecture:
  • you will be leading the product system architecture definition with the hardware development team (mechanical, electronics, optics), the embedded software development teams and the Network Management development teams
• You define Products System behavior
  • You will be defining how the products have to be configured (transponders wavelength configuration, ROADMs configurations, OTN tails and services configuration, …)
  • You will be defining the alarms to be generated
• You will be defining the Man Machine interface features to be implemented for a user friendly experience
  • For a CLI
  • For a GUI
• You will be defining end-to-end features such as
  • Network topology discovery
  • DWDM Wavelength services management across an optical network
  • DWDM client services management across an optical network
  • OTN trails management across an optical network
  • OTN services management across an optical network
  • Services Protection (1+1) and restoration (1+1, 1+N, …)
• You will be defining system function to be implemented on different products (DWDM platform, OTN platform, Celestis NMS SDN Network Manager) for end to end features defined above
• You will work in close relation with Product Owners of the different scrum teams for defining the EPICs and stories required for developing end to end user stories needed on different products for implementing features
• You will be in charge of generating and maintaining a product and system Architecture Document

Profile and skills

As part of a multidisciplinary R&D team, you appreciate to work with a high level of autonomy and ownership. You have the opportunity to closely collaborate with End-to-End product development teams (from specification to validation). You appreciate to take part of the constant evolution of your product, taking part of the feasibility studies, definition of the solution and studying the improvement/innovation threads.

Education: Engineer with solid hardware and software background in optical transport products and network managers for DWDM and OTN optical networks

Experience: 10 year+ on defining optical transport products system and software architecture, including network managers

Skills

• Strong knowledge of DWDM and OTN technologies
• Hardware architecture
• Software Architecture

• Yang modelling
• Embedded Linux (buildroot, yocto, other…), Drivers, Switch
• Agile methodology
• Fluent in English
• Nice to have:
  • basic knowledge of I2C, SPI, USB
  • SW Development on microcontroller such as NXP
  • Development on ARM microprocessor platforms
  • Programming in Erlang
